  • The MacDuffie School has an immediate opening with a March 1st start date for a full-time science teacher. Residential duties, with the associated room and board is also available.

    Ideal candidates will have experience using an inquiry-based approach and facilitating open-ended investigations, and have been involved in developing innovative science curricula. Science courses at The MacDuffie School have a substantial laboratory component, and prospective candidates should have practice supervising and facilitating hands-on activities and overseeing and organizing safe lab practices.     Bachelor’s Degree is required. Experience working with international students is preferred.

    The MacDuffie School is a coeducational college preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 6-12, located in rural Granby, Massachusetts. The current enrollment is around 210 students.

  • The MacDuffie School is a college preparatory, co-educational boarding and day school for grades 6-12 with ~215 students located in Granby, MA.

    Position Summary

    This part-time registered nurse is responsible for clinical staff nursing duties for The MacDuffie School students during the academic year with the possibility for additional per diem. This professional nursing position is an integral part of a team that is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school health services at The MacDuffie School.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Staff the Health Center office for a regularly scheduled 20-25 hours per week

    Monday to Saturday, plus weekend on-call rotations (which includes being “on-call” Friday evening to Sunday evening for telephone triage availability outside office hours).

    General Duties to include (but not limited to):

    Identify the health care needs of a diverse student body

    Plan and implement services to meet those health care needs, including referrals to campus and community resources as appropriate

    Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the services provided

    Maintain accurate documentation of all ongoing aspects of care

    Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families of all identities and backgrounds

    Data entry and review of all immunization records and medical files

    Managing health insurance issues for boarding students

    Adherence to and reporting for all MDPH regulations

    Yearly flu clinics in compliance with MDPH regulations

    Administration of vaccinations in compliance with MDPH regulations

    Education for residential life students

    Education and/or Experience

    Registered nurse, currently licensed in MA in good standing

    Current CPR certification

    Experience working in a school setting or with school aged children

    Working Conditions

    This is an hourly, unbenefited, academic-year position with significant holidays and vacations. The part-time nurse will have responsibilities while students are on campus during the academic year. In addition, further per-diem work during busy times may be possible.

  • The MacDuffie School has an opening for a full-time AP Chemistry teacher starting August 20, 2024.

    In addition to AP Chemistry, the position will include teaching other levels of Chemistry and/or other courses commensurate with experience and department needs. Ideal candidates will have experience using an inquiry-based approach and facilitating open-ended investigations, and have been involved in developing innovative science curricula. Science courses at The MacDuffie School have a substantial laboratory component, and prospective candidates should have practice supervising and facilitating hands-on activities, as well as overseeing and organizing safe lab practices. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and working closely with adolescents, and be willing to work in a collaborative environment. The MacDuffie School is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, coaching, advising, and/or residential responsibilities. The position includes working with a small group of students in our advisory program. There are opportunities for coaching and extracurricular involvement, and housing is available with residential work.

  • The MacDuffie School has an opening for a part-time housekeeping and cleaning position. The housekeeping responsibility is maintaining a clean and tidy facility that welcomes all students, faculty, and staff. Applicants for housekeeping staff will be provided with all necessary personal protective equipment. Duties include cleaning dormitories and classrooms, maintaining sanitary facilities, and ensuring cleanliness throughout the building. Applicants must have reliable transportation to campus, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and have a good disposition. Prior cleaning service experience in a residential or commercial setting is preferred but optional.
